I’ve taken an inventory of all the printmaking and bookmaking work I have done and I realized… what the hell am I keeping all of this for? I would really love it if you’d take a look and see if there is anything you’d be interested in purchasing. I am also very happy to trade prints/books if you have something of your own that you created that is lying around being unloved!

If you know anyone else who might be interested in buying or trading, please share this with them!

How You Say

One of my friends, whom I have photographed for years, is a local street artist who goes by How You Say.  His real name is Paul, and I met him at IHOP circa 2006, where he used to work the night shift as a waiter.  Paul is the type of guy who is always doing some kind of crazy random unexpected thing that requires you to keep a camera with you at all times — just in case.  Recently I was invited to photograph him in his garage/studio space tucked away in the middle of suburbia.  He is going to be traveling around the US and most of the stuff in the garage is getting trashed/given away, so he wanted some documentation.  Here’s some of what I got.

If you live in Arizona, chances are you have seen his famous bunny around in various locations throughout the valley such as Buffalo Exchange, Santan Brewery, or even while looking out the window riding the light rail.

Remember the crazy random stuff I was talking about?  Yeah, he jumped off this ladder into a pile of stuff… twice… without me asking him to.

aaaaand he hung down from this hole in the ceiling.

Paul is one of the most interesting characters I know, and he has definitely made his mark on Arizona street art.  He is moving on to other areas of the USA and though I don’t think he will leave AZ behind forever, he will be missed while he is gone!

Underwater Experiment

I have been wanting to do some underwater photography for a while now, and since an underwater housing for my 5D mk II is upwards of $1,500, I went with the next best thing… an $8 disposable waterproof camera.

I went swimming yesterday and I did my first experiments with the disposable camera.  Here are the results.

The film is all super grainy, and any movement was blurred.

Even though it’s super grainy and blurred, this is my favorite image from the roll.  It’s reminiscent of a painting.

Comparisons

I have been looking through old photo projects from years ago and drawing comparisons between things I am shooting these days.  The most interesting thing about it is the fact that I have pretty much been photographing the same people for 4+ years, and you can see not only how my photographic style has changed, but you can see the person’s own changes.

SNEAK PREVIEW / OUTTAKES

Today I did my first photo shoot for a series of shoots I will be doing for a project I am currently calling “death by crafting”!  Basically, it’s FINE ART vs. ARTS & CRAFTS… and crafts = DEATH!!!  The idea somehow came out of a conversation I had with Ash, and it grew and grew in my mind until it became so monstrous I just had to start making it happen.

This shoot is all about gllllliiiiittteerrrr.  I did the ridiculous make-up and set design too in case you were wondering.  Sarah Waite was my extremely cooperative model!

So here’s your sneak preview and a couple outtakes!  They are unedited… except the last one which I obviously changed the coloring in.
